 Borrowing Library Materials
   

This guide gives information for using, borrowing and returning library materials. For questions regarding borrowing materials or your personal account, call the Circulation Desk (423) 614-8551. The Circulation Desk is responsible for circulating books, media, and reserve materials.
 

Regular Loan Periods

Lee University & Church of God Theological Seminary:

Undergraduate students

2 weeks, 1 renewal  (30 item limit)

Graduate students

4 weeks, no renewal  (40 item limit)

Faculty

1 semester, due last day of final exams  (100 item limit)

Staff

2 weeks, 1 renewal  (30 item limit)

Alumni

2 weeks, 1 renewal  (10 item limit)

Immediate family
members of faculty

2 weeks, 1 renewal  (10 item limit)

Church of God International Offices and Pathway Press

Department heads

2 weeks, 1 renewal  (10 item limit)

Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement with Cleveland Public Library

Squires Library and Cleveland Public Library patrons, whose accounts are in good standing, may use their card to borrow materials from both libraries.

Lee University and Seminary students' use of the Cleveland Public Library

Loan period for Cleveland Public Library patrons who check out books from Squires Library

Renewals

Books on Loan for 2 Weeks may be renewed for an additional 2 weeks. 

Books on Loan for 4 Weeks (To Graduate Students) may not be renewed.

Books on Reserve3-day reserves may not be renewed.

How to Renew a Book:

1.  Renew no later than the day before the book is due.

2.  Go to the online catalog or to the Circulation Desk.

3.  Click on View your patron record, and follow the instructions.

Holds

WHEN to Place a Hold
Place a hold on a checked-out item in order to borrow that item whenever it is returned to the Library.

HOW to Place a Hold

1. Go to the online catalog or to the Circulation Desk.

2. If you use the online catalog, search for the item you wish to borrow.

3. While viewing the item record, click the REQUEST button at the top of the screen, and follow the instructions.

4. Click HOLD, then follow the instructions.

When the item is available, the Library will notified you by email or regular mail.

Overdue Materials

Standard loans

$.10 per day

3-day reserves

$1.00 per day

2-hour reserves

$1.00 per hour or fraction of an hour

Lost books

minimum of $50.00

Persons with overdue books, outstanding fines, or bills with any of the cooperating libraries will not be permitted to check out materials until their account is cleared.

Course Reserve Materials

Purpose of Reserves
Course reserve materials are items that a teaching faculty member has placed on reserve at the Circulation Counter for students' use. The purpose of reserves is to make high-demand items available to all students needing them.

How to Check Out an Item Placed on Reserve

1. Go to the library's online catalog.

2. Click on the COURSE RESERVE button at the top of the screen and follow the instructions.

3. Using the pull-down menus, click on your professor's name or the course number.

4. Write down the call number for the item you wish to check out.

5. Go to the Circulation Counter to check out the item.

Reserve Loan Periods

Professors may place items on reserve for 2-hour or 3-day checkout.

Fines for Overdue Reserves

Patrons are charged $1.00 per hour or fraction of an hour for 2-hour reserve items returned late.

Patrons returning 3-day reserve items late will be charged a fine of $1.00 per day.

Reasons to Access Your Library Account Online

- to view the list of items you have checked out

- to find out when items are due back to the Library

- check the status of items on hold

- check any fines owed

How to Access Your Account

1. Go to the library's online catalog.

2. Click on View your patron record.

3. Enter your username/password in the following form:

LEE UNIVERSITY
faculty, staff, and students

Name/username:  lastname, firstname

Barcode/password:  lee followed by your 9-digit Lee University ID number
** If your ID number does not have 9 digits, add zeros between lee and your ID number.  EXAMPLE: lee000123456

CHURCH OF GOD THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY
faculty, staff, and students

Name/username:  lastname, firstname

Barcode/password:  Your barcode number as it appears on your Seminary ID

Other Categories

Username:  lastname, firstname
